On 18th June 1925, our granny's uncle Alfred Harris was riding his motorbike along Orchard Road, Portsmouth, heading in the direction of his home at Barnes Road Fratton. When he reached the junction with Talbot Road a lorry was approaching heading south. Alfred kept going, seemingly to try to cross Talbot Road in front of the lorry. The lorry hit him and he was killed instantly.
